The U.S. army testing new types of fuel cell vehicles

Looking for clean and efficient renewable energy to reduce the U.S. dependence on imported oil, the U.S. Army Pacific Command is researching and testing the hydrogen fuel battery vehicle.

U.S. Army Pacific commander-in-chief of France Virgin pro-Chomsky Lieutenant General (Francis Wiercinski) said: “We will continue to carry out related research, these hydrogen battery vehicles is an important way we deal with the challenges of energy security, energy independence. ”

According to the Environmental News Network reported , in an event that held on February 22 this year, officials from the U.S. Army Pacific Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Pacific Air Force and U.S. Pacific naval forces announced, they would test 16 General Motors Corporation the production of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to conduct field. The move is part of the Hawaii hydrogen action “,which was launched by the 13 organizations in December 2010.

Senator Daniel Inouye said: “The use of fuel battery vehicles and the overall construction of transport infrastructure, will reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil, and Hawaii will benefit.”

Charles, Executive Director of the General Motors global fuel battery project Charles Freese said: “Once the hydrogen fuel infrastructure in Hawaii successfully established, other states then can follow, the military is the practical operability of this technology and applicability of the test. ”

In the test, the 16 fuel battery vehicles will exercise the full power more than 300 km, then re-charged for five minutes,it has been tested that its carbon emissions is zero.

U.S. Army Pacific forces scientists James Muldoon said: “We will test data detailed analysis to ensure that this technology can be applicated in the future practical .”
